Age Designation

Age eligibility is determined by a child’s birth date. Each player must be under the age of his or her team level by the date of July 31st. For example, a U-12 player must be under the age of 12 by July 31st of the same year. Our youngest team consists of players who are at least 8 years of age. All players on the U-9 team either must turn 8 prior to the July 31st date or by October 15th AND entering 3rd grade in the fall.

Play Up Policy

Due to the July 31 cut off date, there will be certain players whose birthdates technically place them in an age group below that of their classmates or peers. These players may request a so-called “grade appropriate” play up. Every effort is made to allow players to remain with their peers assuming the overall numbers allow and assuming the player is capable of playing at the higher age group. All play up requests are reviewed individually and must be approved by the MUSC Board of Directors.
